HOW ART THOU? |
| This painting and the subsequent series came about one day when I happened upon some etched or "florintined" steel. These were fashioned as panels in an elevator. I loved the random pattern on the steel, making the light flicker over and about the brushings. I was enthused! I just had to do something with this metal! So, I contacted a metal fabrication place and discovered that "spangled" or "florintined" steel is not an uncommon produce. I immediately purchased a small sample of this galvanized steel and painted on it. Abstract impressions seemed to work best on the simplicity and strength of the support. I then ordered a number of galvanized steel pans 36"h x 36"w with a 4" lip all round. Then a carpenter fashioned a wooden frame within the back of each pan, so that a cord could be placed for easy wall hanging. Now my background was ready for my brain-waves, and "wave" they did! I plunged in and began painting. And, "voila" my metal series evolved. This series is currently on exhibit at: |

"IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT;
IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, |
| I create art because I must. It is a necessary extension of my life. It identifies and substantiates my existence. It is my profile and my legacy. I want to intrigue and entertain. I want to initiate wonder and questions. I want to communicate my thoughts, dreams and desires. Most of all, I want to be. - Ione Citrin |
